Seitz’s first day on the job with Escambia County was Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2022. A United States Air Force veteran, Seitz brings with him two decades of experience in waste management. Most recently, he served as the Landfill Division Manager for Republic Services in Houston, TX. In that role, he was responsible for the management of five landfills, six transfer stations and a recycling center. He also oversaw a staff of 110 personnel including managers, supervisors, heavy equipment operators, general laborers, heavy equipment technicians and support staff.
“I’m looking forward to joining Escambia County and serving the people of the County in my new position as Director of the Waste Services Department,” said Seitz. “This is a first-class organization and I’m honored to be a part of it. Moving from Texas to Pensacola, being near the beach was a huge bonus for me and my family.”
Seitz earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. From 2001-2004 he served in the United States Air Force in liquid fuels maintenance, a position that saw him maintaining jet fuel (JP8), gasoline and E85 storage and distribution systems on military bases including pumps, pipelines, filtration units, valves, and aboveground and underground storage tanks. He has also served as a Construction Engineer Manager with The Shaw Group in Norfolk, VA; Landfill Operations Manager with Waste Management in East St. Louis, IL; and Landfill District Manager with Waste Management in Central IL.
When he is not working, Seitz enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, playing guitar, traveling and being at the beach.
