Two people have been arrested and a second person is wanted for the murder of local football star Ladarius Clardy. Amos Dehontiguan Snowden and Da’Quavion Snowden are both charged with first degree principal to murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Kobe Jenkins- who is not yet in custody- currently has a warrant out for his arrest. He will soon be charged with 1st degree murder and attempted murder.
During a press conference on Thursday night, Sheriff Simmons stated, “I realize that these arrests will not bring LD back, however I hope this will bring some peace to his parents.”
Sheriff Simmons then invited LD’s parents, Ladaron Clardy and Tracey Marshall, to speak. LD’s father, Ladaron, became emotional, and encouraged the community turn away from violence. “To all of the young black men out there: You have got to put down the guns and start putting out trust in God.”
Both Ladaron and Tracey thanked local attorney Aaron Watson and the support of the faith-based community, who had seen them through these past several months of trying time. Also a key figure, the ECSO, Sheriff, and family thanked lead investigator Bruce Harris, who spent countless hours on the case over the last three months.
When asked if there was a motive, the Sheriff said it looks as though the suspects appeared to be “cowardly attacking someone else.” and that there would like be more arrests to come.
Attorney Aaron Watson highlighted the community’s critical involvement in offering tips, and said that his firm will make good on its promise to reward those who came forward with tips that assisted in the case. The Sheriff is looking into which tips broke the case currently.
The Sheriff closed with the following remarks,”These men are killers. This was an intentional attack. They thought they were shooting someone else….It takes some time to heal. This has shocked our system, but we are on the mend. This is a good day, but we are going to continue to work and will follow up as more things develop.”
