Local Retail Cooperative Recognized for Safe Operational and Clean Environment Practices
On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, Emerald Coast Utilities Authority (ECUA) presented the “Protector of the Environment” (POE) award to Ever’man Cooperative Grocery & Cafe, 315 West Garden Street, Pensacola, Florida 32502.
Originally founded in Gulf Breeze in 1973 and grounded in a rich history, Ever’man Cooperative Grocery & Cafe is driven by a commitment to actively create a more healthy, vibrant community. After more than forty-years serving the Gulf Coast, they continue to be the local source for natural and organic foods at a reasonable price, education about conscious living, and continues to be a strong community partner. In the tradition of their founders, cooperative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.
The “POE” Award is presented to local businesses and Food Service Establishments (FSEs) who promote a positive, clean, and safe working and eating environment through the ECUA’s Fats, Oils, Grease (FOG) and Backflow Programs. Prior recipients include: Baptist Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital, Whataburger, Jackson’s Steakhouse, Navy Federal Credit Union, Escambia County School Board, Pensacola State College , West Florida Hospital, WENDCO (Wendy’s), Beaver’s Inc. (Arby’s), and Publix Supermarkets just to name a few.
The award is aimed at recognizing community leaders and businesses who properly train their employees on Best Management Practices (BMPs), participate in scheduled cleanliness inspections, and have no FOG and Backflow Program violations and/or warnings within a one-year period.
The POE award is a one of-a-kind initiative, which rewards local businesses and food service establishments (FSEs) that promote a positive, safe working environment through the ECUA’s Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) and Backflow Programs.
In addition, the award recognizes organizations that train their employees on “best management practices,” participate in scheduled 90-day cleanliness inspections, have no FOG or Backflow violations, and no warnings within a one-year period.
