Outdoor retailer Gander Outdoors — formerly known as Gander Mountain — will reopen the Pensacola store it shuttered last year as part of a push by new ownership to reopen or open nearly 70 stores this year.

The 42,000 sq. ft. store, located at 1220 Airport Boulevard, is expected to reopen by May and will hire around 70 employees.

Recreation vehicle retailed Camping World bought Gander Mountain’s assets at auction after the company went through bankruptcy proceedings last year. The company has an announced an “initial list” of 70 stores which are set to open in 2017 under the new “Gander Outdoors” banner.

“It was important to me to bring Gander Outdoors back to many wonderful communities across the country because the employees are top notch and the stores provide great products and services for the community,” said Marcus Lemonis, Chairman of Camping World Holdings. “Our great team at the headquarters in Bloomington, Minn. has been working tirelessly over the past 6 months to get the locations prepared and we are extremely excited to begin the rapid opening process and hope to open all locations this spring.”

“In addition to the Pensacola location, we are currently pursuing other locations for reopening and expansion and expect to announce additional locations and markets in the coming weeks,” Lemonis added.

Lemonis is also the star of CNBC’s series “The Profit,” on which he offers struggling small businesses his expertise and capital in exchange for an ownership stake.
