The Institute for Women in Politics is hosting a holiday luncheon on Friday, Dec. 1, at 12 p.m. at Jackson’s Steakhouse in downtown Pensacola. Guest speaker will be Mark Singel, former Governor and Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania and brother of Institute Vice President Myra Van Hoose.

Gov. Singel’s topic will be “Fighting the Good Fight.” In a preview of his talk, Gov. Singel wrote, ““Amid seemingly endless stories of bad sexual behavior, there is one group that has shown what it means to lead – women. Democrat and Republican women all over the country have already sent a simple message – enough is enough! This has implications for the 2018 elections but it has long term positive consequences for civility in our nation.”

The luncheon is an IWP members-exclusive event. Reservations are $20 and can be made at Anyone who is not a member may attend by submitting their paid membership at prior to making their reservation. Reservation deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The Institute for Women in Politics of Northwest Florida’s mission is to change politics by achieving greater representation of women in office and government. The non-partisan organization’s membership includes both current and former elected officials, but the majority of members have no political aspirations other than an interest in seeing women achieve equal representation in our political and government institutions.The Institute works to empower women to seek elective and appointed office through outreach, training and mentoring programs.
