A 25-unit townhome development called the “Regency of North Hill” is planned for the site of the former Town House Motor Hotel near downtown Pensacola.

The 1.38-acre site is located at 15 West Strong Street in the North Hill neighborhood, near the intersection of Palafox and Cervantes streets. Preliminary plans call for the demolition of the existing buildings and parking lot on the site. The existing walls that line the edges of the property would remain. Due to the project’s location within the North Hill Preservation District, those plans must first be approved by the city’s Architectural Review Board.

Described as a “luxury detached single-family townhome community,” each of the gated development’s 2,000 square foot townhomes would feature two stories and a garage, along with high-end Bosch appliances, wood floors, fireplaces, and quartz countertops. Designs for the project call for floor-to-ceiling windows and custom Bevolo gas copper lanterns on building exteriors.

The architect for the project is Charles Kunze of Artisan’s Architecture.

The Town House Motor Hotel, built in the late 1940s and expanded during the 1950s, advertised itself as “Pensacola’s Court of Distinction,” featuring a radio (and later television) and phone in every room, a dining room, and meeting and banquet facilities. Following the motel’s closure in 1972, the buildings were converted to office space.

In recent years, the vacant property has become overgrown.

Plans for the new townhome development have been submitted to the city and are scheduled to be considered by the Architectural Review Board at its July 20 meeting.
