The Fort Pickens Bookstore will close temporarily for renovations beginning Saturday, May 13, Gulf Islands National Seashore officials announced this week.
The bookstore, located just inside the main entrance to the fort, will close for about two weeks. Visitor services will be located in the main entrance of the fort as well as at the Fort Pickens Museum, officials said.
The bookstores at the national seashore are operated through a cooperative agreement by Eastern National. A portion of all sales go directly to supporting public programming throughout the seashore. Eastern National also operates bookstores at the Fort Barrancas Visitor Center aboard Naval Air Station Pensacola and the William M. Colmer Visitor Center in the Davis Bayou Area near Ocean Springs, Miss. The renovation is funded through Eastern National and park donations.
