Charlotte, N.C.-based Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits will open its first Mobile-area restaurant at 3213 Dauphin Street, company officials confirmed Friday.
“We are excited to confirm a new Bojangles’ restaurant in Mobile, although we don’t have a timeline on opening at this point,” said company spokesman Cliff Cermak.
Bojangles, founded in 1977, currently operates more than 700 stores in 11 states and the District of Columbia. The chain is known for its never frozen, hand-breaded fried chicken, biscuits that are made from scratch every 20 minutes, and all-day breakfast menu.
Gautier, Miss.-based franchisee Angle, Inc. will operate the Mobile store. The companies signed a development agreement last year to build multiple stores in southern Alabama and southeast Mississippi.
“This is their first Bojangles’ and they are looking forward to growing the brand in the region,” Cermak said.
“We are pleased and excited to welcome Angle, Inc. to our existing group of experienced restaurant operators,” Bojangles’ President and CEO Clifton Rutledge said last year. “We are very pleased with the growth we are seeing outside our core markets and, as we’ve said before, growth in adjacent markets will be driven by franchisees that have the depth of business experience to help us continue to grow the Bojangles’ brand the right way.”
The 7,000 square foot building on the Dauphin Street site, formerly occupied by The Dermatology Center, will be demolished to make way for the new store. The 1.2-acre parcel was purchased by investors earlier this year for $782,000.
