The longtime home of Pensacola’s YMCA, located at 410 North Palafox Street, is set to be razed after city officials issued a demolition permit Wednesday.

In November, the YMCA moved from the Palafox Street building into the Bear Levin Studer Family YMCA, a new $16 million, 52,000 square foot facility located at 165 East Intendencia Street. The Palafox Street building was erected in 1951.

Galveztown, LLC, controlled by Pensacola developer Fred Gunther, closed on the $700,000 purchase of the Palafox Street property on January 4. Neither the YMCA nor Gunther immediately responded to a request for comment.
