There’s a new spot for Pensacola’s chicken finger fans to check out, with Mobile, Ala. based chain Foosackly’s opening their first Florida store Thursday.

The Pensacola store, located at 5850 Mobile Highway, is the company’s tenth location and its first located outside of Mobile and Baldwin counties.

Foosackly’s menu is simple — fried chicken fingers, available with fries and Texas toast or in sandwich or salad form. Cole slaw and a lineup of homemade sauces round out the restaurant’s offerings.

But that simple menu has proven successful. Since founding Foosackly’s with college classmate Eric Bechtel in 2000, owner Will Fusaiotti has grown the company from a single storefront to ten locations in Mobile, Semmes, Saraland, Foley, Daphne, and now Pensacola — all of which are company-owned.

“We want to appeal to all ages and demographics,” said area supervisor Lance McCaskill, who has managed Foosackly’s last four store openings. “Our priority is fantastic customer service.”

The Pensacola store has hired 20 new employees, and an additional 10 employees and five managers have been temporarily reassigned from Alabama locations to help open the new store.

If the Mobile Highway location isn’t convenient for you, don’t worry — Foosackly’s plans to open additional stores in the Pensacola area.

“We like to say we chose our first location on Mobile Highway because it has Mobile in the name,” said McCaskill. “But this location really just fell in place first. We’re currently planning ongoing expansions but we want to focus on opening this location right now and not get one foot in front of the other.”

Beyond their food, Foosackly’s has become known for their sometimes unconventional marketing tactics. In 2008, after a lucrative military contract was awarded to Seattle-based Boeing instead of an Airbus-owned firm that planned to build a plant in Mobile, Foosackly’s raised eyebrows with their tongue-in-cheek billboards which proclaimed, “We would like to offer Boeing a finger.”
