Earlier this month, a large 50 foot vessel washed up on the Gulf Islands National Seashore, leaving park visitors and National Park Service personnel scratching their heads as to where it came from.

National Seashore officials say park maintenance crews are working to clean up the site and get the vessel removed from park lands as soon as possible.

As to how it ended up on the beach, that remains a mystery. Additionally, park rangers have been unable to identify the owner of the ship, as its missing an identification number. The Coast Guard hasn’t reported any missing boats or boaters.

We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
